Hi everyone, sorry for the silence! I relocated to Turku (Finland) for the summer and started a new (night time) job. I’ll get to move to my new apartment on June 1st. Until then, I’m hanging out at my parents’. And no matter how much I wish I was a “wherever I lay my hat there’s my home” type of person, I can’t help being more of a “wherever I build my nest, hang my posters, set up my work space, color coordinate my textiles and obsessive compulsively arrange my books” type. So until I get to my new home, I’m on a bit of a hiatus.

Also, Arrested development will be on Netflix tomorrow, so I’m probably gonna have to stream the whole thing on one sitting :’D

  • I kinda feel like I should keep my mouth shut, because I seem to be good at jinxing stuff, but I’m going to tell this anyway: ROUGH SKETCHES FOR CHAPTER 1 OF AMARIAH ARE PRETTY MUCH DONE!! Inspired by Ava’s Demon, I decided to do it all digitally and in color (instead of the original plan of A4 traditionally inked pages), and in a 1 or 2 panels per page type of format. As soon as I get my new tablet monitor I’m going to start inking and coloring the pages, and when chapter 1 is finished and chapter 2 sketched, I think I’m ready to launch the comic :)

This’ll be an exciting summer! Yaaaay!

  • Actually the Yiynova reviews are kinda winnign me over…

…even though the website of the company is absolutely horrible. Hmm. HMM. I might actually choose the Yiynova MSP19U over the Cintiq.

  • Cintiq users?

Even though my dear Wacom Graphire is still functional, and has been a faithful companion since my teens, I have decided to set it aside and get a new tablet. After negotiations with my parents they have agreed to lend me money to get a Wacom Cintiq.

But before I click on any ORDER buttons, I want to ask for opinions: 22HD or 13HD? Of course it’ll take me half the time to pay back for the 13, so that’s the one I’ll probably get, but if anyone has experience with both the 22 and the 13, I ask this: IS IT REALLYREALLY WORTH IT? Like REALLYREALLYREALLY?

  • Art zines?

I’m thinking about putting together a zine of my work.

One plan was to get together my sketchbook contents from the past half a year or so - both stuff that I’ve posted on tumblr as well as some (so far) unscanned things. OR it might concentrate on my illustrations. Or have just a general selection of my recent work, both sketches and illustrations. There’s also this webcomic Amariah that I’m going to start somewhere in the near future, and there’s a bunch of concept art that I haven’t really done anything with so far. I’d like to put a sloppy “Art of Amariah”-zine together some day, but I don’t think that’ll happen just yet (the biggest reason being that I haven’t even launched my comic yet :B)

The price would probably be no more than of 7 EUR/10 USD (depending on the deal I’d get from the local print house - I’m not setting anything in stone before I know their rates.), and it would be about 40-50 pages or so.

So, which one would you like to see? A sketchbook, digital illustrations or an assortment? Or both separately?

  • More tv show/movie recommendations?

I had my tonsils taken out a week ago, and since then all I’ve really done is eat painkillers and sleep. I’m getting frustrated with this recovery time. Sure, it’s nice to have a lazy day every now and then, but spending a week in bed is driving me nuts!

Still in a lot of pain, so my mandatory lazy time will probably go on until the rest of the week. I’ve already caught up on every tv series I can think of. Anything anyone would care to recommend? Some light movies maybe, like chick flicks that don’t require advanced levels of concentrations, and if I happen to doze off for a second, like I do all the time, I won’t feel sorry for missing a scene or two xD

    ?

  • Oh, yeah, I made it to the States!

It was kinda awful gettin here though, I (and 5 other people) were kicked off the flight from Atlanta to Springfield because of the weather, and because of that I now have a voucher for Delta so if you have any recommendations on where in the States to travel I’d be happy to hear them :D

But yeah. I like my University, and I love my classes. It definitely different than what I’m used to.

  • This is my room.

    Well, parts of it.

I’m posting this because my room’s current state is quite far from organized.

So by doing this post I might be hinting myself to clean it up.

Please notice the bowler hat dalek on top of a DARSIT tea can and my night desk shrine with Cumberbatch-Sherlock, Eleven and the Police Box sign. Also, under my DS games (and Twilight Sparkle’s head) you can just spot a small pink thing supporting the white board. It’s a tiny table I got from a My Little Pony Christmas Calendar and it was just the right size to un-wobblify my desk extention.

    Yeah, so,

to the one who told me that a My Little Pony Christmas Calender wasn’t a necessary buy,

    Booyah.

  • Just some ablablaa about comics

A while ago I asked for some suggestions for short comics.

I’ve worked on all of them a little, but now that I’m on vacation I started to really concentrate on each one.

I’ll try to get some previews ready for next week! At least for this comic suggested by pinstripedgiraffes and monekone. I just went ahead and merged the suggestions because both were set in a forest :D.

Also, I want to thank everyone who sent me family root stories during the last 2+ weeks! I received the latest one two days ago (thank you, anon, for the beautiful story <3), and if someone is feeling talkative you can still spam my ask box as much as you want because I REALLY enjoy listening to people’s stories *_*.

I can’t remember if I’ve replied all of you (why doesn’t tumblr inbox have a “sent”-folder?? WHY???) but nevertheless: THANK. YOU. For being awesome.

I’ve been writing my comic and developing my OCs quite a lot lately. Maybe at the end of the summer I might, GASP, maybe even do a little introduction on this project? I know it’ll take me years before I’ll actually put a webcomic up, but, uh, blogging about this stuff has never failed to inspire me so.. maybe it’ll be a good boost. There’s a reason I don’t post that much about my OCs. I always go really deep when I develop characters, and I know their hopes and dreams and fears and traumas and I kinda want to make it OK for them but I know not all of them will be OK. I just enjoy writing drama :’D

And I’ve been exposed to way too much George R. R. Martin to let my characters just have fun.
