The first language classes in Finnish comprehensive schools start in 3rd grade (age 9), and a vast majority of kids choose to begin with English. As did I. I suppose Finns speak generally good English (none of the series on TV are dubbed (except cartoons) so everyone’s exposed to the language all the time :D) but they are also pretty shy about it and choose not to speak it in public. I used to be pretty shy about my language skills too, but I’ve lived and learned (yeah right) and I guess I can hold up almost as decent a conversation in English as I would in Finnish. Blame it on traveling and being active on Couchsurfing communities.
As far as writing goes, I’ve been reading books and websites in English since I was about 12, plus I’ve always been a bit of a sucker for grammar. I make a lot of mistakes in my writing, really, but I have a habit of proof-reading absolutely everything I write multiple times whether it’s a story or a status update. I’m almost obsessive about maintaining a balanced structure and pleasant rhythm in everything I do. Irritating? From time to time yes. Pointless? No way.
Eh so yeah, that’s how I learned English :’D.
THANK YOU FOR THE KIND MESSAGE <3<3<3

I can relate to Snufkin’s wanderlust, and I, too, prefer to travel alone. It’s also easy for me to find peace of mind in simple tasks that make me happy and I can get lost in my thoughts for long periods of time. As for relatable stuff from Little My, I’m very curious. I can be very impatient, and spontaneous to the point where it’s almost reckless.
